Current Placement Needs

Assets, Inc. is licensed by the State of Alaska as a child placement agency. We recruit, on an on-going basis, adults who are interested in becoming foster parents for children and youth, usually ages 10 through 18.

Children served by Assets typically have a history of institutionalization, multiple foster home placements, or are at risk of out-of-home placements. Assets helps these children and their families to function in the community by providing a host of services including service planning, therapeutic foster care, skills training, service coordination and crisis response services.

Foster care parents are expected to provide a safe, structured, nurturing environment to children who are unable to live within their own families. Applicants must be 21 years of age, be willing and able to work with the child's family members and other professionals who serve the child, and meet the State of Alaska's child foster care standards. Previous experience with mental illness or challenging behaviors is helpful, but is not a requirement for consideration as a foster parent.

Assets, Inc. provides its foster parents with training to assist them in meeting the needs of their foster child. Additionally, Assets assumes the cost of required background checks for each of its foster parents and other adults living in the home.

A monthly professional stipend based upon the needs of the child is provided to the foster parent.
